Art Farm and partner Atlanta Celebrates Photography welcome international photographer Jan Banning as our special guest for Art Over Dinner on November 11, 2018.

Jan Banning is a Dutch autonomous artist/photographer, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. His origin is expressed in the choice of subjects, such as Indonesian women who were forced to become prostitutes for the Japanese army during the Second World War in ‘Comfort Women’; or former forced laborers in South East Asia during the same period in ‘Traces of War: Survivors of the Burma and Sumatra Railways’

His photo series have been published in print media such as Newsweek, The New Yorker, The Guardian, Time, Vrij Nederland and many others.

Banning visited Serenbe in Spring 2018 through a Project Residency withAIR Serenbe.
We are looking forward to having him back for dinner next month.

Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the cultivation of the photographic arts and the enrichment of the Atlanta art community.

Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) aims to make Atlanta a leading center for the world's fastest growing art form. Primarily, by producing the largest annual community-oriented photo festival in the United States, we provide experiences that engage and educate diverse audiences through lens-based media.

ACP hosts an annual, citywide photography festival in October: the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival. The festival includes a wide variety of exhibitions and multiple events around Atlanta and throughout the surrounding communities. The festival's diverse offerings bring together professional and amateur photographers, general art enthusiasts, gallery owners, critics, and collectors.

Throughout the year, ACP sponsors additional community programming and opportunities specifically for the professional development of photographers. Get involved with ACP to find out how you can contribute and participate!

Art Over Dinner is a series of intimate gatherings with artists and the organizations that support their work. We collaborate with the chefs at HomespunATL and local farmers to bring a seasonal meal that showcases winemakers and brewers, and invite our guest artists to spark the conversation at one long farm table on the outdoor deck of The Art Farm at Serenbe.

Art Farm at Serenbe is a vibrant artist complex that provides a place for engagement and inspiration. It serves as Serenbe's central place for artists, the arts and culture. This complex is deeply rooted in process, education and creating multiple platforms for creativity. Artists, practitioners and researchers come here to deepen their practice and broaden their creative connections.
